Sinch SMS for Salesforce logs outbound messages as tasks in the related Salesforce record's activity feed.
Viewing outbound messages
When an outbound (sent) message is received, a task record is automatically created.
- Subject: The task Subject will indicate the channel e.g. SMS: Sent, WHATSAPP: Sent
- Comments: The message content appears in the Comments field
The outbound message is displayed as a task in the related record's activity feed as well as in the Message Feed.
Send outbound messages
You can send outbound messages in several ways:
- To an individual: Send a one-to-one message
- To campaign members: Send a bulk message to everyone in your campaign
- To a list view: Send a bulk message to selected records from a list view
- Automatically in a flow: Send a message triggered by automation
All outbound messages, whether written from scratch or created from a template, support merge fields. You can pull merge field details from:
- The related object record
- Records related to the object
- The record owner
- The sending user
Destination number fields
You can send outbound messages from any Standard or Custom Object (the Custom Object must have Allow Activities enabled) within Salesforce that has one of the following field types:
- Phone type field
- Valid phone fields should be in international format and shouldn't include any special characters or spaces i.e. US numbers should include the prefix 1 followed by the number 15554445555.
- Text type field that contains the word "phone" in the name
- The "phone" string is case insensitive i.e. both "Phone" and "phone" are supported.
- Formula type field that contains the word "phone" in the name
- The "phone" string is case insensitive i.e. both "Phone" and "phone" are supported.
