You can send messages to Salesforce users to keep them informed about activity on the records they own or to share updates with multiple users at once. Messages can be sent to an individual user, multiple users or a record owner.
Note: Messages sent or received directly to a user record are assigned only to that user and Weill not include a Related To value - unless you're a System Administrator or user permissions have been updated, only the individual user will be able to view those task records.
Message an individual user
You can send a one-to-one message directly from a user's profile page using the Send SMS action.
- Make sure the Send SMS custom button has been added to the User Record Page layout.
- From the user's record, open the Details tab and navigate to the Custom Links section (or select the Send SMS button if available in the highlights panel).
- In the message composition area, configure and send your message.
Message multiple users
Send a bulk message to several users at once using the SMS to Users tab.
- Navigate to the SMS to Users tab in the Sinch SMS for Salesforce app.
- Select the appropriate List View of users.
- Select the checkboxes next to the users you want to message.
- Click the Send SMS button.
-
In the message composition area, configure and send your message.
Message a record owner
You can send a message to a record owner by referencing their mobile number on the object.
- Create a Formula (Text) field on the object that retrieves the record owner's mobile phone number. Make sure the field name includes the word 'phone' so it's recognized by the system.
- When composing a message or creating a template, select this owner phone field as the Send to value.
- In the message composition area, configure and send your message.
Note: To message the owner of a Case, create a custom formula text field called Owner Phone on the Case object that references the record owner's mobile field. The Owner Phone field will then be available from the Case record and can be used when sending messages.
