You can use the Send SMS button on an Opportunity to send a message to a single phone field on the Opportunity record or to the Opportunity's contact roles.
Opportunity
- Navigate to the Opportunity record you want to send the message to.
- Click the down-arrow and then click on the Send SMS option. To send messages from here, you'll first need to configure the Send SMS button.
- Configure the message:
- Sender account: The account to send from.
- Sender ID: The number to send from.

Send to: Select the desired Opportunity phone field.
When an Opportunity field is selected as the Send to number, the Contact Roles section will be hidden.
- Select template (optional): Select a template to populate the message automatically.
- Merge field (optional): Add merge fields to your message by first selecting the Field type (merge object), then the merge field.
- Merge option (optional): Select the Field type for the merge field.
- Message content: Adjust or compose your message from scratch.
- Highlight special characters: This switch will highlight any Unicode characters so you can identify where they are if you want to remove them.
- Character count: Character count and how many credits will be used for the message.
- Attach file: Use this button to include an image file (MMS picture message).
- Send: Send the message immediately.
- Schedule: Set your message to send at a later date/time.
- When you're ready, click on Send or Schedule to send the message.
Note: Outbound messages and replies to messages sent to a single Opportunity phone field are stored in the activity history of the Opportunity record, but not the Contact record.
Contact Roles
- Navigate to the Opportunity record you want to send the message to.
- Click the down-arrow and then click on the Send SMS option. To send messages from here, you'll first need to configure the Send SMS button.
- Configure the message:
- Sender account: The account to send from.
- Sender ID: The number to send from.

Send to: Select the desired Contact phone field.
When a Contact field is selected as the Send to number, the Contact Roles section will be displayed.
- Select template (optional): Select a template to populate the message automatically.

Select the Contact Roles to include - each contact will receive a separate message.
- When you're ready, click on Send or Schedule to send the message.
