Depending on the level of access a user needs, users can have one of four security roles in SMS for Dynamics - admin, user, read-only or service.
Security roles
- SMS for Dynamics Admin: An admin can use the full functionality of SMS for Dynamics across the organisation and update the settings in Configuration.
- SMS for Dynamics User: A user can send and receive messages but will not be able to update the settings in Configuration.
- SMS for Dynamics Read only: A read-only role can read sent and received SMS messages but will not be able to send SMS messages to anyone.
-
SMS for Dynamics Service: The service role is for the ‘application user’ (for the app service itself to access the organisation to create records in Dynamics). This is not a human user.
- The app requests access to the Common Data Service (CDS). This allows the SMS for Dynamics service user to create new records (Mobile Originated (MO) messages - meaning replies sent b ack to you. Granting access will automatically add a new user called SMS for Dynamics to your environment. You can verify that this user has the SMS for Dynamics Service role and the correct permissions.
- The SMS for Dynamics user has been approved by Microsoft.
