You can run and download reports on your Shopify abandoned cart SMS activity from within the Sinch MessageMedia platform.
Abandoned cart reporting
The abandoned cart reporting function can be found under Automations and under Reports. Once you select the desired automation to run the report on, you'll be taken to the reporting interface.
Automations
- In the Sinch MessageMedia platform, from the left-side navigation, click Automation and then Abandoned Cart SMS.
- Scroll down to the Abandoned Cart Automations section and click the View report link next to the automation you want to see reporting details for.
Reports
- In the Sinch MessageMedia platform, from the left-side navigation, click Reports and then Automation Reports.
- Click the specific automation you want to see reporting details for.
Run the report
Once you're in the reporting interface:
- Set a Date range for your report. You can either choose specific start and end dates, or select from pre-set filters (e.g. 'Last 30 days').
- Click Apply filters.

The data for the selected reporting period will appear.
- Graph: Displays revenue recovered from your selected automation during the reporting period
- Revenue recovered: Revenue attributed to the selected automation for messages sent out within the reporting period
- Units: Number of billable units sent within this date range - different from the number of contacts you messaged e.g. sent one message which consisted of two units
- Cost: Total cost of SMS sent for the reporting period - you can configure the cost per SMS for more accurate reporting
- ROI (Return On Investment): Calculated by dividing the value of sales made by the cost of messages sent, then multiplied by 100: (Sales $ / Cost of sent messages)*100 = ROI%
- Sales recovered: Number of absolute sales made as a result of the automation
Note: The attribution is based on the cart being recovered within three days of the abandoned cart message being received.
- Scroll down below the graph to access reporting for the individual SMS messages within an automation. Click View report next to any SMS sent through the automation to see the same metrics, but specific to that message rather than the entire automation.
- Scroll beneath the individual SMS metrics to see reporting for any other campaign sent from the Sinch MessageMedia platform.
Download the report
If you want to explore your campaign data in more detail, you can download a CSV file of the report. This lets you work with the data in a way that suits your business or combine it with other data sources for enhanced attribution.
To download the report:
- In the report view, set your preferred reporting date.
- Click Download report.
- Check your downloads for a CSV file named after the Abandon Cart flow.
Your CSV file will include:
- Purchaser Name
- Purchaser Mobile
- Purchaser Email
- Cart Value
- SMS Sequence Number - number of messages the customer received before purchasing e.g. if your Abandon Cart has three messages in the flow and the customer purchased after receiving the second, this field will show as '2'
- Date and Time of:
- Abandonment
- SMS send
- Purchase
- Time to purchase - how long it took the customer to purchase after receiving your message
- Message cost
Configure the cost per SMS
When you send a campaign or set up an abandoned cart automation in Shopify, you'll receive detailed reporting on your ROI and conversion metrics.
As your cost per SMS may vary depending on factors such as your plan size and message volume, we offer an option to ensure your cost per SMS is correctly aligned with your specific account settings.
To ensure accuracy in reporting:
- In the Sinch MessageMedia platform, in the left-side menu, navigate to Extensions and then Integrations.
- Locate the Shopify tile and click on the See details button.
- In the pop-up window, click on the Messaging cost tab.
- Select the currency your Sinch MessageMedia plan is set to.
- Insert your rate per SMS.
