Abandoned cart recovery is one of the most effective ways to use SMS for any ecommerce store, including BigCommerce. Once your Sinch MessageMedia and BigCommerce accounts are connected, you can set up an abandoned cart campaign to re-engage customers.
Create an abandoned cart campaign
- In the Sinch MessageMedia platform, from the left-side navigation, click Automation and then Abandoned Cart SMS.
-
You can select a pre-designed SMS automation template to use or click the New Abandoned Cart SMS button to create one from scratch.
- Give your SMS campaign an Automation Name so you can easily identify it later when you're running reports. The Trigger conditions are pre-set as 'Customer abandons their cart after adding their phone number'.
-
Select the Sender ID you want to use from the Sender ID drop-down list.
- Configure SMS 1.
- Add a delay to SMS (days, hours, minutes): This is the amount of time between the customer abandoning their cart and the SMS being sent. If the customer recovers the cart before the delay time elapses, the SMS won't be sent.
- (Optional) Add a Coupon Code in your message if you'd like to give the shopper little extra incentive to recover their cart and head to the checkout. Sinch MessageMedia will retrieve your existing coupon codes from your BigCommerce account and you can select from the Coupon Code drop-down list.
-
Compose your message in the Message content field. You can either select a template from the Templates drop-down list or write your message from scratch. As you type, the message preview on the right will update in real-time. To ensure a 'strong' message strength, you can include all of the Merge Tags suggested in the message strength meter, and include an 'unsubscribe' option.
-
(Optional) Click the Add another SMS button below SMS 1 if you want to add another SMS action to the automation e.g. the first SMS could be sent after a 1-hour delay and if the shopper still doesn't recover their abandoned cart, a second SMS could be sent after a 1-day delay. You can create up to 5 SMS actions. You can also delete an SMS from the automation by clicking on the Remove SMS button at the bottom of each SMS.
- When you're ready, click Publish to launch the automation.
