This article explains what the shared numbers pool is and how using it together with our Familiar Sender feature helps your customers recognize who their messages are from, even when you don’t have your own dedicated number or a registered sender ID.
Note: This feature is available only for certain destinations due to regional regulations requiring specific sender ID registration. Details on sending requirements by region can be found here.
What is the Shared Numbers Pool?
The shared numbers pool is a large pool of numeric sender IDs (mobile phone numbers). When you send a message to a recipient for the first time using the shared numbers pool, we will cycle through the numbers in the pool and choose one at random from which to send your message. The number that is chosen to send your message will match the recipient's local number as closely as possible. So, for instance, if you are sending to an Australian +61 number, we will select a +61 number from which to send your message.
What is Familiar Sender?
We don't pick a random number from our shared pool for every message. We only choose a new number if you haven't messaged a recipient in over 180 days. Otherwise, we reuse the last number used with that recipient to avoid confusion.
What if I want my messages to be sent from different numbers every time?
