You can now include emails steps into your Abandoned Cart automations when you integrated your account with Mailjet.
The contact information is driven by what the shopper has inputted at check-out. If they only provide a mobile, then the email steps will be ignored.
Set up an email(s) step in your automation
Abandoned Cart automations support up to five steps, and can include emails. This functionality is unlocked when a Mailjet account is integrated to your Sinch MessageMedia account.
To add email steps to your automation:
- Connect your Mailjet account through the Sinch integrations.
- Ensure your eCommerce store is integrated correctly.
-
Navigate to Abandoned Carts within the Automations tab.
You'll now see an option to select the 'sender email', which is populated based on your Mailjet account.
- Set up your Abandoned Cart automation steps, using a combination of SMS and email.
- When setting up your email step, select a predefined Mailjet email template.
- The template is set up on the Mailjet platform.
- You can add a coupon to your email, however you’ll need to ensure the correct variable is included in the template.
- Review and save the automation.
Set up an Abandoned Cart email template
When setting up your email step, you’ll first need to set up and use a template on the Mailjet platform.
The templates you create for Abandoned Carts should include some personalization (which can be done using variables) which will be used to pass information from the Sinch integrations into the template.
Additionally, to ensure your customers receive the most important piece of information (the Cart URL) please ensure the email template includes these:
Must have:
- Cart URL: {{var:cartUrl}} - this is the variable used to add the URL to the abandoned cart within your store
-
We recommend adding a button for the check-out as per the following screenshots. This will also enable link tracking.
Nice to have:
For personalisation reasons:
- First Name: {{var:firstName}} - adds the contacts first name
- Last Name: {{var:lastName}} - adds the contacts last name
-
Coupon: {{var:couponId}} - adds the coupon code added to the message
Note: If you add a coupon to the abandoned cart step, it will be auto applied to the cart, so adding the specific coupon to the email isn't necessary.
ROI reporting
Across the two platforms, ROI will be driven off of two costs.
- SMS cost: Configured within the eCommerce integration set up screen.
- The cost of email: Configured within the Mailjet integration set up screen. The cost of email is very low, and will be defaulted to the Mailjet standard rate of $0.001.
We then use a combination of the two send costs, and the number of sales made within the attribution time frame to calculate the ROI.
