Step 1 | Install the Extension from Zoho Marketplace
Head to the Zoho Marketplace and find the SMS for Zoho Desk by Sinch MessageMedia extension, then click on the Install button to add the extension to your Zoho Desk account.
There are a few settings you’ll need to configure initially:
A) Choose which departments should have access to the integration.
B) Choose the default department for new SMS conversations.
C) Enter SMS in the Channel Name.
D) Select which user profiles should have access, or click All Profiles to give all users access.
E) Agree to the terms of use.
F) Click Install.
Step 2 | Grant Permissions
Once the extension is installed, grant the necessary permissions to allow it access to Zoho Desk APIs. This step is essential for seamless integration and smooth communication.
There are three sets of permissions you have to grant:
1. The ZApps External Client permissions - click Authorize:
2. zoho_desk service permissions - click Authorize:
3. Contact and ticket list permissions - click Authorize:

Great! So you're already set up on Zoho CRM, and you've previously installed and configured the Sinch MessageMedia SMS app, which means you don’t need to do anything else. After you finish granting the permissions above (Step 2), your configuration will be automatically synced from Zoho CRM.
You can now modify the Zoho Desk specific configuration.
No, I don't use Zoho CRM, and haven't installed the SMS for Zoho CRM Integration
No problem, the configuration process is super straightforward. After granting the permissions in Step 2, you’ll see a configuration wizard that'll walk you through the process.
After answering the first few questions, you’ll be asked whether you already have a Sinch MessageMedia account:
If the answer is Yes, you just need to create new HMAC API Credentials and copy them to the clipboard. Then paste them into the Settings and click Save:
If the answer is No, head the Sinch MessageMedia registration page and fill out the form, then you can Get started on a free trial account:
After completing registration form and verifying your phone number, a modal will open displaying your automatically generated HMAC API credentials (API Key & Secret). Click on Copy to clipboard and Ok to close the modal:
Then paste the API Credentials into the Settings and click Save:
Step 4 | Get Started with SMS for Zoho Desk
Congratulations! You've successfully installed the integration. Now you can seamlessly send and receive SMS messages directly from Zoho Desk using Sinch MessageMedia, streamlining your support processes and ensuring efficient communication with your customers.
