There are two available views when it comes to profiles in Salesforce. One is the standard, basic view, while the other is Enhanced (which is basically just a bit neater and segmented).
A lot of the support content we feature on this site is based on the Enhanced view - so below is the Salesforce article on how to activate it (so that everything makes sense when you're following our support guides).

You can always come back and disable this option if you prefer the standard view - just remember that your experience might not line up with the images in our support content.
