There are a few different methods that can be used to send messages in Zoho CRM depending on your needs. Let's take a look...
- Sending messages via Zoho CRM Records:
- Option 1 | Send Bulk Smooth SMS
- Option 2 | Smooth Messenger
- Option 3 | Send Smooth Message pop-up
- Sending messages via the Smooth Inbox tab:
- Option 1 | Open Conversations
- Option 2 | New Conversations
Sending messages via Zoho CRM Records
Option 1 | Send Bulk Smooth SMS
Send using the "Send Bulk Smooth SMS" button
1. Go to the Leads module.
2. Click the checkbox for the leads you want to message.
3. The Send Bulk Smooth SMS button will now appear, click it:
4. When the messaging window appears, you can configure the following:
A) From Number - use the dropdown arrow to select your From number.
B) Number to use - you can select to send to All Possible Numbers stored in the recipient's CRM record, or you can specify a number.
C) Who should be notified of replies? - you can choose either "Me" (which is the user sending the message), or the Owner of each record.
D) To field - you can use this box to see who you're sending the message to.
E) Templated or Blank message content - choose whether you want to use a template or compose the message from scratch.
F) Template - if you do decide to use a template, use the dropdown box to select a template, or click Edit to edit the template. If you want to learn more about creating templates, see this article.
G) Message Content - you can compose and edit your message here.
H) Send Now - click this button to send your message.

Option 2 | Smooth Messenger
Send from a CRM Record using Smooth Messenger
1. Open the message recipient's CRM Record.
2. Click on Smooth Messenger in the navigation pane on the left:
3. Compose your message.
4. Click Send:

Option 3 | Send Smooth Message Pop-Up
Leads Module | messaging from the "Send Smooth Message" pop-up
1. Go to the Leads module.
2. Click on the recipient's name to open the Lead Record:
3. Click on Send Smooth Message:
4. Then you just follow the same message configuration process as Option 1 (Step 4).
Tasks Module | messaging from the "Send Smooth Message" pop-up
1. Go to the Tasks module.
2. Open the task you want to send the message from:

Sending messages via the Smooth Inbox tab
Option 1 | Open Conversations
Send from an Open Conversation in the Inbox
1. Go to the Smooth Inbox and Bulk SMS module.
2. Locate and select a contact whose conversation is open.
3. Compose your message.
4. Click Send:

Option 2 | New Conversations
Start a New Conversation in the Inbox
1. Go to the Smooth Inbox and Bulk SMS module.
2. Click on the Start a new conversation button.
3. In the pop up search window, type the name or phone number of the contact you want to message, click the Search icon (magnifying glass), and click on the name of the contact:
4. The new conversation for your selected contact will load in the inbox.
5. Compose your message.
6. When your message is finished, click Send:
