If you have more than one MessageMedia account, you can assign a specific account as the default for particular Users.
For example, you may have one MessageMedia account for Sales, one for Marketing, and another for Customer Support.
Setting a User's Default Account
To set a default account for each user, follow the instructions below:
1. Navigate to the user's record detail page (see this Salesforce article).
2. Set the Mercury SMS Default Account field to the desired account (if this field is not visible, it may need to be added to the user page layout - see this Salesforce article).
Note - make sure the account name matches the sub account name in the Account Manager tab of the Mercury SMS app.
3. This process must be completed for each user requiring a default account.
Note - only a sub account (not the parent account) can be specifically assigned as a user's default account.
How It Works
When the Mercury SMS Default Account field on a User's record is set, the system will default to My Default Account when sending a free-form message from the Send SMS button or the Message Feed.
However, if the user sends a message with a template, the nominated account in the Sender account field in the SMS Template's settings will override the user's default account.
This can be prevented by checking the box for Override with User's Default Account in the SMS Template's settings. This also applies to messages sent via Flows.
If no User default sender account is set, the system will initially default to the parent sender account (Company Default Account). Subsequently, the user's account default will update automatically based on the account of the user's last outbound message.
