Mercury SMS provides the ability to "Cloak" an outbound message; this means rather than the message being received from a MessageMedia number, it will appear to have come from a user's mobile number.
The cloaking functionality can be used in the following ways:
Be sure to also review the important notes at the bottom of this page.
User Override
The "Cloak SMS Messages" field on the User object allows you to cloak all messages sent from the User. When the field is set to TRUE, all outbound messages sent by the User will be cloaked to come from the Mobile number specified on their User record.
Manually
At the time of sending a message manually, the User can specify whether they want to cloak the message with the "Cloak user" field. They can choose to cloak using their own Mobile as the "Sender" or the Mobile of the "Owner." Note that cloaking is not an option when sending a message from the Message Feed.
Template
When creating Templates, the user can specify whether they should be cloaked as the "Sender" or the "Owner" in the "Cloak Using" field; this cloaking setting will only apply when a Template is being sent via automation (i.e. Flow). Using a template manually will require the cloaking setting to be specified at the time of sending the message.
Important Notes
- Cloaking is not supported for +1 destinations (USA and CAN)
- When using the cloaking feature responses will be sent to the cloaked number and will not be added to Salesforce.
- To use the Cloaking feature, you will need to set the "Enable Cloaking" Configuration setting to TRUE on the Setup & Configuration tab. You will also need to request the feature to be enabled directly with MessageMedia.
- When cloaking to a List View selection of records, you will only be able to cloak as the "Sender."
